The 2010 spy thriller SALT was released at the same time that public interest in spies and espionage spiked. At BaM, we began to wonder how difficult life would be as a spy in the age of Facebook. The idea of “outing” a friend as a spy lead to the development of an interactive Facebook app that promoted the home entertainment release of SALT.
The “Compromise Your Friend" app allows users to create and share a video that identifies a friend as a spy. The app uses Facebook Connect to access images of friends who can then be humorously identified as a sleeper cell agent in a mock newscast that is cut together with scenes from SALT.
